Welcome and thanks for your interest to know little bit more about Mithran. Born in a South Indian Village Gandhigramam and raised amidst doctors (Mom, Dad, Sis, Bil) he was the only Engineer turned Film Maker, black sheep in the herd, so to speak.
From Sheep to Sheppard
At the age of 8 wrote and acted in a play, in the role of Sheppard, who speaks in Sheep language when he has memory loss. After that he wrote and produced various stage plays, stage performances and dance shows across South India.
Mithran’s stage plays and Dance Shows
At the age of 23 Attended Wireless Telecommunication Post Graduation in the morning and Film School Workshops at Arts Etobicoke, Toronto, Canada during evenings and weekends. He was also one of the founders of Humber Association of Tamil Students in which he wrote and produced stage plays and dance shows. Mithran was chosen to represent the state of Tamil Nadu during the Independence Day Celebration and performed a Dance Show at Dundas Square, Downtown Toronto, Canada.
Mithran’s Short Films in Canada
Mithran bagged the Canadian government funded short film ‘Chimera’ (Meaning: Illusion). Chimera was telecasted in First Cut Film Festival, Toronto, Canada. Mithran travelled across Toronto to take classes for upcoming filmmakers. Second film ‘Nizhalin Kadhai’, Story of a Shadow was officially selected at the international Tamil film festival held in Toronto, Canada. That landed Mithran to write and direct a segment ‘What’s new?’ as part of ethnic weekly series ‘Aaram’ at Omni Television, Toronto, Canada.Through which Mithran gained popularity amidst Tamil Speaking business community in Toronto and produced commercials for small and medium business in Greater Toronto Area.
With Post Graduation in Wireless Telecommunication and graduation in Film Making, Mithran continued to do commercials in USA. One of his budding assignments was to write, direct and produce a commercial for a leading confectionary company of South India. Mithran was later introduced to Arun Vaidiyanathan, NJ based filmmaker who wrote and directed a full-length feature film Achamundu Achamundu (There will be fear).
Mithran is INDIA’s FIRST RED data manager and RED One assistant editor. Looking at his work he was opted to cut a musical in RED for the same film.
In winter of 2011 Mithran along with his wife Dhanalakshmi Raju Srinivasan started producing short films under the banner ‘Thoughts Laboratory’ and won 5 awards back to back in the period of 13 months (2011 to 2012) which includes
